Mount Kilimanjaro, with its three volcanic cones, Kibo, Mawenzi, and Shira, is a dormant volcanic mountain in Mount Kilimanjaro National Park, Kilimanjaro Region, Tanzania. It is the highest mountain in Tanzania, the highest mountain in Africa, and the highest free-standing mountain in the world at 5,895 metres or 19,341 feet above sea level (the Uhuru Peak/Kibo Peak).

You have the opportunity to summit Mount Kilimanjaro alongside our team of disabled veterans, witnessing their incredible motivation and determination to overcome their life changing disabilities. Each of the wounded ex-soldiers has had a remarkable journey from injury to success in the face of adversity and challenges. Each guest trekker will be mentored and supported by one of our wounded ex-serviceman with there being no more than 4 spaces offered in each supported group.

The expedition will follow the beautiful Lemosho Route and rather than joining the busy Macheme Route on day 3, we have the privilege to be following a newly pioneered extension which takes us around to the north of the mountain and ascends the summit from the east. This much quieter, un-spoilt route climbs the mountain from the west and crosses the picturesque Shira Plateau allowing for stunning views all around the mountain along with good acclimatisation. It is widely considered to offer the greatest variety of landscapes and it still enjoys sightings of wild game along the forest section as it is rarely travelled and is away from the other more crowded routes.

Mount Kilimanjaro is not only Africa’s highest peak and the world’s tallest free standing mountain but it is also a dormant volcano lying on the boundary of three tectonic plates. This trek leads through high alpine deserts and frozen ice fields yet no special climbing equipment, technical skills or supplementary oxygen is required thus making it accessible to inexperienced climbers.
