Completed June 2014
In June 2014, the AGS team summited the highest mountain in Europe. There is an ongoing dispute over which mountain this is; Mount Elbrus in Russia (5,462 m), or Mont Blanc in Italy (4,810 m). The dispute lies in Mt Elbrus’ geography. Her glaciers are in Europe, whilst the mountain itself stands on the Asian border. To avoid any ambiguity, the team summited both Elbrus and Mont Blanc. In preparation for the climb, the team were required to develop ski touring techniques with prosthetic limbs to scale the Elbrus glacier.
